-new cnn/orc poll of likely voters have mitt romney and president obama in a dead heat, 49% apiece. both candidates are canvassing the critical swing states on this final full day on the campaign trail. the president will hold rallies in madison, wisconsin, columbus, ohio, des moines, iowa. governor romney is in florida and lynchburg and fairfax virginia, columbus ohio and in manchester, new hampshire. and it wouldn't be a presidential election without some kind of legal fight in the state of florida. the state's democratic party is suing to extend early voting hours with people reporting lines of up to seven hours at some south florida early polling stations. cnn has this place covered like no other network. we've got dan lothian in madison, wisconsin. jim acosta is in orlando, florida, martin savidge is in cleveland, ohio. miguel marquez is in las vegas, nevada. ed lavandera is in denver, colorado, for us this morning. john zarrella comes to us live from plantation, florida. we want to begin with complete comprehensive coverage with john berman checking in to see how our correspondents

the polls will shed some light on who will win? forget about it. cnn editor paul stein hauser is here to do the math for us. paul, what do the national polls look like? >> two days to go, and we have four polls that are nonpartisan and came out since midnight. let's start with the abc news/"washington post." 48% of likely voters supporting the president. 48% supporting mitt romney. how about nbc news/"wall street journal," pretty much the same story, a 1 percentage point ahead of mitt romney. and pugh research center, they came out with obama with a 3 point advantage. that's within the sampling error. this is just about dead even as we get into the election. >> act what battleground states? >> that's the key here because this is not a popular vote, this is a battle for the states and their electoral votes. we look at those eight battleground states, polls in two of them just came out last night and nee're interesting. this is in des moines, iowa. you have the president with a five-point advantage there and nbc news "wall street journal" maris poll had results that were similar. romney start

. cnn "newsroom" with carol costello begins right now. good morning, carol. >>> good morning. thank you so much for being with us. i'm carol costello. new flashpoint in the isra israel/gaza conflict threatens to implode today's peace talks. a bomb rips apart a bus in tel aviv, israel's second largest city. 22 people injured and tensions rise again across the region. hamas praises the attack. it's not claiming responsibility. in gaza, streets are empty as civilians brace for the israeli response. so far, secretary of state hillary clinton, the challenge of brokering a cease fire, it grows even more daunting this morning. more on those diplomatic efforts in a minute. first the latest details on that bus attack. sara sidner is on the phone from tel aviv. what's the latest, sara? >> reporter: where the victims of this bus attack are. we know that now 22 people have been injured. some of those were inside the bus, some of the people were outside of the bus. there are two very serious injuries, both of them teenagers according to hospital officials here and they are doing surgery as we speak.

. >>> "cnn newsroom" continues right now with deb feyerick. hey, deb. >> thanks so much, suzanne. i'm deborah feyerick in for brooke baldwin. and we begin with the escalating crisis in the middle east as violence rages between israel and militants in gaza. more casualties, more deaths, fatalities doubling over the last day. gaza's rocket strikes which hit israel's two largest cities, jerusalem and tel aviv, have brought a swift and powerful response. israel is focused on taking out hamas' iranian supplied rockets which can travel up to 45 miles, the farthest ever. hamas has been firing rockets for years as a way to end israel's blockade of supplies into gaza. terms of a potential cease-fire are being brokered by egypt, turkey and qatari officials. israeli defense forces targeted a media building in gaza, aiming at four senior hamas operatives they believed were inside. and two people died. it is not clear if they were the ones designated as the hamas targets. hamas, which grew out of the muslim brotherhood, seized in our gaza in 2007. since then, the group has become increasingly militarized.

of economists surveyed by cnn money, soledad. 125,000 jobs added overall. for net new job creation. the important thing here is the trend. and it is the trend that has been so important to american families. american workers. and the two political campaigns, quite frankly. the president took office with unemployment rate at 7.8%, soledad. and then embarked on a massive stimulus plan and unemployment rate kept rising to 10%. but then started to come down. started to come down and is now back at 7.8%. and we got that number, of course, last month. and that was a big surprise overall. you look at the job creation. this is something that the obama administration talks about a lot. the president took office, there were losing hundreds of thousands of jobs at the end of the bush administration into the obama administration. and now the fight has been, the political fight has been over the durability of the recovery and jobs since then. when you go to the right of that chart you can see we have been adding jobs now for two years but we haven't been adding necessarily enough jobs to every

. here's the latest poll of polls. cnn putting together the average of seven public polls, 50-47. so a very competitive race but again, the president has consistently been ahead by a couple in ohio. governor romney needs to win on the ground and win big on the ground tomorrow to carry that state. in a close election like this, sometimes the little guys matter. new hampshire is one of the little guys. only four electoral votes. a new poll out by the university of new hampshire today, a three-point race in new hampshire. this one actually could be decisive. i know it's only four but we might be watching tiny new hampshire tomorrow night as we go. the only way we will be watching is if governor romney can somehow find the magic in virginia. he has to win this one. new poll out today has it at 48-47, that's a statistical tie. watch the washington suburbs early tomorrow night, if governor romney can do better than john mccain in this part of the state right here, that means he could be in place because mccain and obama tied in the rest of the state last year. this part is key. then you mo

find stunning. we have cnn polls and says what happens if these others are on the ballot. i have got news for you, they are on the ballot. those are the polls you should have been doing all along. let's take colorado, very important swing state. president obama when the question is just posed obama versus romney, he leads by two points. 50-48. that's in the cnn poll. when you look at it as it is on the ballot, then obama still has the lead, but it's mayor 48-47. look at gary johnson the libertarian candidate with four points and jill stein with one point. and goode the constitution party candidate is less than a half percentage of a point. but when you put it together, you see how president obama's margin has narrowed. could it make a difference especially when the margin is that small? of course it could make a difference. gary johnson believes it could make a difference in two different ways. >> new mexico, colorado, and nevada i take more votes away from obama. in north carolina and michigan, i take votes away from romney. it's equal on both sides and the fact look i'm more libera
